Energy San Juan

Welcome to Energy San Juan - A Site for the Exploration of Energy Security in the San Juan Islands.

Our San Juan Islands are a wonderful place to live. Whether you are descended from the families of the first settlers, or have arrived here last week, you are among the few who are blessed in calling this place home. The natural beauty, wonderful people, and sense of community are among the things which make it so special.

Some have an issue with the weather now and then, but most thrive. Transportation to and from the mainland can always produce interesting stories from Islanders. But, year after year, season after season, life here can be very good.

The poet John Donne says: “No man is an island, entire of itself; every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main”. As it is with men, so it is with our Islands. This is especially true with respect to energy.

In a conversation I had with a friend a while back, I asked a simple question; “What is the Energy Policy of San Juan County?” This site is focused on exploring possible answers to this question.
